This Sunday is an exciting milestone in the lives of the Robinson family as they are opening their brand new Blackfort Driving Range for the very first time – and with 20,000 golf balls ready and waiting to go, there should be enough for everyone!
Located on the Blackfort Road, Omagh, the driving range is in an ideal location just one mile from Omagh town centre – and less than a mile from the Omagh Golf Club.
Measuring 250 yards in length, and sown with amenity grass in May 2020, the driving range features seven covered bays and a large uncovered area – the perfect place to practice your driving and chipping!
Speaking to the UH, business owner Matthew Robinson said that after planning the driving range for the past 4.5 years, he is delighted that it is finally open – and in full swing.
“We’ve talked about it and joked about it for so long,” he reflected. “So it is brilliant that it ready to open to the public now. “There isn’t a driving range like this in the local area, so the gap in the market was definitely there,” he added. “It will be open every day from early until late, and is a place where you can go to practice your driving and chipping.
“It’s self-service too – so you simply put your money into the machine, you get your golf balls and away you go!”
Matthew has expressed his thanks to all friends and family who have offered their expertise, advice and physical labour in the creation of the driving range; his parents, Ann and John for their support; and to his wife, Nuala for ‘putting’ up with him over the past year!
The grand opening of Blackfort Driving Range will take place this Sunday (August 29) at 9am. From Monday (August 30) onwards, opening times are 7am to 10pm on weekdays and weekends.
